CEEN launched Environmental Education and Awareness program
Kathmandu – Centre for Environment Education Nepal (CEEN) has formally launched Environmental Education and Awareness program from 6th June, starting from Sunrise English Boarding School at Bhaisepati, Lalitpur. The ward Chairman inaugurated the program amidst reporters from NEFEJ – Nepal Forum of Environmental Journalists, School Principal and Executive Director of CEEN.
The awareness program was run by a group of young, self-motivated, dedicated and energetic volunteers. Children from class V to X attended the awareness program. The topics covered were EE, its importance for a sustainable future, WASH, Climate Change and DRR, Solid Waste Management.
The program will be done once a week in different schools of Kathmandu valley. The program includes environmental education, waste management, and water-related issues, with simple eco-friendly tips that we all can follow that can help to save the earth.
The CEEN has been working with school children and teachers since its inception in 1999, and hopes to diversity the activities that enable the citizens to understand how important it is to take care of the only planet, our Common Home. The CEEN also seeks support and encouragement from individuals and institutions for this genuine effort of educating the masses on environment and its associated issues.
